Total Allowable Catch (TAC) is the number of individuals a fish or invertebrate species that can be caught within a period of one (1) year within an FMA. TACs are set after an FMA resource assessment survey is conducted. And once the TAC for a certain species at the FMA level is reached, a stop is put on harvesting that particular stock until the following year based on resurvey findings.
